NBR11 status update - Acquisition finished, 8760 km acquired
The 2nd of May M/V Akademic Lazarev commenced the acquisition of NBR11 for FMCS. Since the start in 2006, 56 000 km of super regional long offset NBR data have been acquired throughout the Norwegian Barents Sea, and the survey has been an important contribution to the vitalization of the area.
This years survey program comprised approximately 12 000 line kilometers with a special focus on Sørvestnaget and Vestbakken. The program did also prepare for expansion of the NBR survey into the previous disputed area. New for NBR11 was the increased cable length from 8 100m to 12 000m.
The NBR11 acquisition was on a break from mid-August. Mid-October the acquisition started up again with M/V Akademik Shatskiy. The acquisition is now finished for the season.
